Join us for 2-day workshop and learn to paint serene snow landscapes, frosty trees, twinkling lights and sparkling ice scenes in a warm cosy environment.

about the course

Join experienced oil painter and tutor Claire Sandars for a journey into the enchanting palette of winter. In this 2-day workshop, you will learn to capture the subtle beauty of the season using oil paints.

On day 1 you will be working on a snowy scene learning subtle and not so subtle paint mixing for the myriad colours seen in winterscapes.

On day 2 you will be painting a dramatic woodland scene exploring low winter light and how it effects the light and shadow on trees.

Claire's step-by-step guidance will help you explore traditional and contemporary brushwork and colour mixing techniques that bring to life the vibrant and cool tones of winter landscapes. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your skills, this weekend workshop is designed to inspire creativity and confidence in your painting practice. Embrace the magic of winter colours and create your own piece that reflects the serene atmosphere of this captivating season.

Meet Your Tutor

Claire has been a practising artist and art teacher for 20 years, she followed a Foundation course in Cheltenham with a BA in Fine Art at Reading University. On graduating she moved to London to work in two creative industries, film and art consultancy, but she was soon drawn back to an easel by a love of painting.

Alongside her own work she is greatly inspired by helping others fulfil their creative potential and has taught a wide variety of ages and abilities including at a pupil referral unit and G.C.S.E., A Level and Foundation students at the Fine Arts College in Hampstead.  She has a PGCE in Art and Design and runs adult workshops in drawing and painting.

Her very contemporary and experimental degree course combined with good knowledge of classical and traditional techniques allows her to apply a wide range of theories to her teaching.  Students are encouraged to look at the work of other artists and experiment with materials and styles.

Claire exhibits and is commissioned regularly and has recently completed a year long residency role at Godolphin School in Salisbury.
