Join Justyna from Addicted to Patterns studio in this hands-on 2-day workshop to create a botanical printed lampshade.


In this hands-on workshop, you will create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece botanical lampshade while also learning stencilling and basic screen-printing techniques. Justyna from Addicted to Patterns studio will guide you through each of the steps at a gentle pace, ensuring you have all the time and support needed to design and print a beautiful 25cm diameter lampshade.

This workshop will help you understand the art of textile decoration, by experimenting with a variety of basic printing methods, such as cut out paper stencils, lino printing and silk screen techniques. During the workshop you will explore the mark making, experiment with forms and colours which will reflect the botanical inspiration.

Justyna will explain composition to help you create unique repeat pattern for a lampshade of 25 cm diameter. You will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to prepare designs for print, explore various techniques of how to apply inks and create patterns for a lampshade decoration. You will work on a rant of your skills to develop confidence in handling materials and equipment while creating images and developing them into a surface decoration.


 
 
 

 

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Justyna Medon specialises in creating luxurious, hand illustrated and hand printed wallpapers & textiles, inspired by vintage wallpapers, archival prints and her love for the nature. 

After graduating from London College of Communication in 2010 Justyna’s focus was to share her passion for printmaking and to create illustrative patterns that tell the story. 

Addicted to Patterns studio was founded in 2015 in Bristol, recently relocated to Garw Valley in Wales where artisan wall hangings are crafted to commission and in limited editions honouring the traditional printing techniques.  In her wallpaper dedicated research Justyna explores historic prints, pigments and embossing techniques. Justyna is passionate educator & researcher based in Wales.

In 2022 she received QEST Scholarship in Wallpaper Design & Conservation. In 2023 she completed her Postgraduate degree in Wallpaper conservation at City and Guilds London Art School.

Who is this for?

This workshop is suitable for all levels of competency and there is no sewing required.

This workshop is for those aged 18 and over.  


What you will need:

All tools and materials will be provided.   

Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or bring an apron  

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Accommodation

If you choose the residential option, you will be staying in our stylish accommodation on site, The Barrel Store. You will each have a room of your own. The residential option includes a 2-night stay for both Friday & Saturday night.

An additional 1-night stay on the Sunday is an optional extra.


Catering

This weekend residential course includes breakfast and lunch.

For your evening meal, you will have access to a fully equipped kitchen in your accommodation. Alternatively, we have a number of recommendations for eateries in Cirencester.

If you are attending the 2-day ‘Non-residential Option’ lunch on both days is included in the ticket price.
