A fun and comprehensive hands-on course in blocking felt and straws as well as designing and constructing trimmings.

You will use a combination of traditional millinery materials and techniques with an eye to contemporary styling. Using foundation materials, you will learn how to prepare, block, and finish hats to fit.

You will also experiment with a wide variety of trimming materials such as sinamay, silks, crinoline and feathers and various techniques such as manipulating materials to achieve rigid sculptural shapes and wiring. The course will be a fun and inspirational journey into millinery and participants will leave with some of their own bespoke creations!

MEET YOUR TUTOR

With almost thirty years of millinery experience in design, construction and teaching, I am able to offer a relaxed and (often humorous) approach to finding the right compliment to your style and outfit.

A good hat, like a good outfit, should bring confidence and joy.  I like to work on individual styles in an elegant and understated way to match your ideas and my experience. Sometimes less is more.
