Learn how to take professional product shots in this hands-on workshop with award-winning product photographer Yeshen Venema.
ABOUT THE SESSION
Product photography plays a pivotal role for craftspeople in showcasing and selling their products, especially in a world dominated by social media.
Yeshen Venema is one of the UK’s leading product photographers and has extensive experience working with craftspeople to photograph their work.
Over the course of a few hours, Yeshen will give a practical demonstration covering everything from how to set up your studio, the practicalities of which settings to use on your camera, through to how to style and shoot the item for different purposes.
In this practical workshop, students are asked to bring 1-3 products to shoot on the day so you can learn how best to shoot your specific pieces.
During the live demonstration Yeshen will shoot connected to a computer so you'll see the results live. The demo will be cover:
Essential equipment
Understanding your camera's Manual mode
How to find your light
Selecting backgrounds and surfaces
Specific tips for different products (tailored to the group on the day)
How to shoot for different uses (product listings, web banner, brochures, social media)
How to get it right 'in camera'
Use of props to tell a story
Tips for using your phone for social media photos, particularly Instagram.

Yeshen Venema is a Product and Lifestyle Photographer and Squarespace Specialist with a passion for helping artists, designer-makers and micro businesses thrive, having seen how professional photography and websites transform sales, brands and even personal confidence.
Yeshen completed a foundation course at The University for the Creative Arts in Farnham followed by a BA in Marketing & Advertising at UAL in London. Before setting up his own photography studio he worked in many roles across the events and music industries including some time in Stockholm, Amsterdam and even Bavaria!
