This full day dressmaking workshop is an ideal for anyone with basic sewing machine skills who wants to start making their own clothes.
Learn how to read and understand commercial patterns and the foundation techniques for dressmaking while making a cosy pair of pyjama bottoms. Included in the price is a Simplicity commercial pattern with various his/hers nightwear designs which you can take away and re-use. You will learn how to understand and adapt patterns to get a perfect fit. Plus, get to grips with waistbands, hemming, joining straight and curved seams, and pattern matching to achieve a professional finish. Just bring 3 metres of your choice of fabric and a sewing machine if you want to use your own.
MEET YOUR TUTOR
Designer and Maker Lauren Holloway has been running her own slow-fashion handbag and accessory brand since 2013. She specialises in making sustainable bags, purses, laptop cases and toiletry storage, all handcrafted in her Bristol-based studio.
She has extensive knowledge and experience in designing patterns and sewing anything from coin purses to backpacks. Lauren offers a range of sewing workshops from beginner to intermediate level, where participants can learn the basics of using a domestic sewing machine, brush up on existing sewing skills or develop new techniques to improve their craft.

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

What will I need to bring?
You will need to bring 3 metres of your choice of fabric.
Sewing machines will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you wish - please bring a standard foot.
