Join Lauren for a machine sewing workshop to build confidence and basic skills, setting you up to progress with your own sewing projects.

Tutor Lauren will teach you the basic techniques of machine sewing; threading and setting up, different stitches, hemming and applique. You will then make a drawstring bag and a personalised applique cushion, learning how to join pieces of a simple pattern.

You will leave with a new found confidence in using a sewing machine and have a finished drawstring bag and cushion cover to take home. All materials and sewing machines are provided but if your have your own, you are welcome to bring it.

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Designer and Maker Lauren Holloway has been running her own slow-fashion handbag and accessory brand since 2013. She specialises in making sustainable bags, purses, laptop cases and toiletry storage, all handcrafted in her Bristol-based studio.

She has extensive knowledge and experience in designing patterns and sewing anything from coin purses to backpacks. Lauren offers a range of sewing workshops from beginner to intermediate level, where participants can learn the basics of using a domestic sewing machine, brush up on existing sewing skills or develop new techniques to improve their craft.

What you will need:

• Sewing machines will be provided - you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you wish - please bring a standard foot

• All fabric, interfacing, zippers and lining fabric will be provided, along with a variety of thread colours.
