Ivy Vase

£48.00

A simple elegant vase, just as beautiful with a big bunch of lilies as winter twigs. The Ivy vase is commanding and reliable, a vase for every home.

The name isn’t intended to indicate which foliage to use, how presumptuous would that be! It’s part of my Auntie vase collection and named afternoon of my great aunts, Auntie Ivy, unshakable & authoritative!

Unglazed and matt on the outside, glossy functional glaze on the inside.

As each piece is individually made so there will be slight changes in each piece and slight colour variations, which is indicative of the material and the hand made processes.

Thanks to her role as judge in The Great Pottery Throw Down on BBC television, Sue Pryke has become a household name. When not judging other makers, her own work is inspired by the everyday and the ordinary. The result is Sue’s understated, functional and elegant range of tableware which achieves that elusive quality of fitting in perfectly.

Her process is a hand-made version of the slip-casting techniques Sue experienced while a Shape Designer at Wedgwood. Sue slip-casts liquid porcelain clay - pouring liquid clay into plaster moulds – ensuring a consistency of size and shape. Once out of the mould, each piece is trimmed and sponged by hand to create an immaculate surface. Her fascination with the material qualities, textures and interaction comes through in every piece.
