Have you got a dress or skirt that you love but always wanted it to have pockets?

Join experience textiles tutor Lucy Barraclough in this adding pockets workshop. You will be learn how to upgrade a current garment by adding side pockets to it. You will cut out the pockets, learn how to place them into the side seams and how to sew in place, to look like they’ve away been a feature of your existing garment. You will leave with a new found confidence and skills to add pockets to all your garments.

Suitable clothing to add pockets to would be looser fitted skirts or dresses, such as ones with gathers, pleats or A-line styles. There will be a small selection of pocket lining fabrics to chose from but if you have some fabric that you would like to use to add an extra dash, please bring them along.

MEET THE TUTOR

Lucy is a qualified Textile technologist and teacher of sewing techniques and textile creations. Lucy is passionate about empowering people to sew and become more sustainable by creating their own clothes, individual pieces or repairing and upcycling clothing.

Lucy has extensive experience teaching sewing and is dedicated to helping students develop their skills, regardless of their level of experience.

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?

Some experience of using the sewing machine is helpful but Lucy can get you quickly up to speed if you are a beginner or a little rusty.

What you will need:

All materials for sewing will be provided.
